Project 4 - Esrum Sø homepage

Introduction:
We were told to make a homepage with the theme: "Esrum Sø", which is a Danish lake located in the northern part of Sjælland. Me and my group decided to go with the idea of making a website to promote the activities around the lake. Like the previous project the report and homepage was made in Danish and as earlier stated I decided not to translate it (yet anyways).

First semester - Final thoughts

What did I expect to learn?:
Going in to first semester I already knew the programs we were going to be using. What I did not know was how to actually use them, I knew roughly what they were capable of but as mentioned in project 1, I never really spent much time studying them.
I expected to get some basic knowledge of the different programs in the CS package (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Dreamweaver etc.), however I expected the every day teachings to be more lecture based, rather than doing projects.

Having studied most of first semester as a computer scientist I had a pretty good idea of what I was going into when signing up for this education, as I previously mentioned I did not want to sit and look at code all day but at the same time I knew I enjoyed html as long as it did not become way to advanced (meaning difficult java scripts etc.).

I expected a broad staff of teachers specialized in different subjects and ofcourse I expected (and hoped for) a more social class than the one I experienced during the computer scientist course.

What did I learn?:
Looking back in hindsight I believe I recieved a good knowledge of the CS programs and as expected I found html the most interesting (Dreamweaver), which makes me even more sad by the fact that I did not succeed in creating a beautiful well designed portfolio by using Dreamweaver, but oh well back to the books I guess.

Comparing myself to my class mates I think I am pretty mediocre and by that I mean that some of these guys have had years of practicing with the programs outside of this education, which means they are light years ahead of me however my impression is that the majority are using them for the first time.

Overall I think I learnt what I needed to learn during this semester, I could have spent more time studying at home and my plan for the next semester is to do so but I think I got the hang of what I needed to get the hang of so far :)
